FPC is Pentecostal by experience and Apostolic in doctrine; therefore we believe the whole Bible rightly divided in accordance with 2Timothy 2:15. The following is not an exhaustive list of beliefs but some foundational truths that undergird the teaching at First Pentecostal Church.
God
Hear O Israel the LORD our God is one LORD (Deuteronomy 6:4) There is only one God with no essential distinctions in His nature. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are distinct relational appellations of the one God. God is Father by virtue of creation and in the begetting of the Son. The Holy Spirit is God in His essential nature and activity as incorporeal Spirit.
Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God--deity united with humanity. Jesus is the incarnation of the one God; therefore the deity resident in Him is the one God and Father (1Tim. 3:16; Col. 2:9; Jn. 14:7-11).
The Name of God
The Name of Jesus means Yahweh is Savior and represents the culmination of the progressive revelation of God's name that began in Exodus 3:13-15. Just as Yahweh was the redemptive name of God in the Old Covenant, JESUS is the redemptive name of God in the New Covenant. The name JESUS is the comprehensive name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost (Acts 4:12; Phil. 2:9-11; Isa. 45:21-23).
Water Baptism
Water Baptism is an essential component of the New Birth and it is correctly administered by OBEYING the command of Jesus recorded in Matthew 28:19 rather than repeating the words of this command. Baptism is performed in the one singular comprehensive "name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" and this NAME is Jesus (Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5).
Salvation
We believe in the Bible standard of full salvation which is repentance, water baptism by immersion in the name Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:1-4; 2:38-42)
